    Can I view qualifications prior to 1995?

    No. MySQA only holds information from 1995 to present day. To obtain qualifications prior to 1995 you can order a Replacement Certificate at www.sqa.org.uk/eshop. A Replacement Certificate costs £38.00 and will take 2-3 weeks to process

    I'm not doing National Qualifications - can I register for MySQA?

    Yes, it doesn't matter what type of SQA qualification you're doing, as long as you've got a nine digit Scottish Candidate Number (SCN) you can register for MySQA.

    If I register for MySQA will I still receive a paper certificate?

    Yes, if you are registered for MySQA we will still send a paper certificate to the address we hold for you, so make sure you go to your MyProfile page and check it's correct.

    If you see the wrong address, contact your school, college or learning centre and ask them to send us the correct address.

    What information will I be able to see on MySQA?

    You can see the qualifications you are currently doing, progress towards achieving your qualifications and everything you have been certificated for (from 1995 onwards). You can also see the personal details we hold for you and check that they are correct.

    When can I register for MySQA?

    Registration is open now. To register you must have a Scottish Candidate Number (SCN) and a unique email address. To register go to www.mysqa.org.uk

    How secure is MySQA?

    At SQA we use established and exacting security standards to protect information from unauthorised access. There are some simple steps you can follow to keep your MySQA account secure:

    • A personal firewall and anti-virus software are essential tools in your armoury to block unauthorised individuals and viruses from your computer when you're surfing.

    • Keep you personal details secret. Never write down or reveal your username or password.

    • Be alert for scam emails. You will never receive a request from us asking you to provide your login details.

    • Always remember to select the 'logout' button and close the window when you've finished using your account.

    • Never leave your PC unattended while you're logged into the service.

    Can I cancel my account?

    Yes. Login to your MySQA account and go to your MyProfile page. Click on the 'Cancel my Account' button.

    Cancelling your account means that you will no longer have access to your SQA record and if you are sitting exams you will not receive your results by email and/or text message. We will send an email to the address we hold for you to confirm that your account has been closed. You can re-subscribe to MySQA at any time by going to www.mysqa.org.uk
    and completing the sign up process.

    Can I change my username?

    No. Your username is a unique identifier in MySQA and it is not possible to change this.

    How do I change my password?

    Go to your MyProfile page and click on the 'Change password' button. Then fill in your old password, give us your new password, confirm it and click on the 'Save' button to store your new password.

    What if the wrong address is displayed in MySQA?

    This is the address that your centre has sent us and it's where we will send your certificate. If the address you see displayed is wrong please contact your school, college or centre and ask them to send us your correct address.

    What if the wrong name is displayed in MySQA?

    This is the name that your centre has sent us and is what will appear on your certificate. If the name you see displayed is wrong please contact your school, college or centre and ask them to send us your correct name.

    I haven't received a text message containing my exam results.

    Exam results are sent out by text message between 8am and 9am on Tuesday 5 August 2014.
    If you have not received your exam results by text message please check the following:

    • Have you sat exams at National 5, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, Higher or Advanced Higher?
    • Have you completed all National 4 units that make up a National 4 course?
    • Have you given us the correct mobile phone number? (you can check this on your MyProfile page).
    • Have you signed up to receive your exam results by text message? (you can check this on your MyProfile page).
    • Have you registered for a MySQA account?
    • Have you activated your MySQA account?
    • If you are abroad, do you have enough credit on your mobile phone to be able to receive text messages?

    I haven't received an email containing my exam results

    • Have you opted out of receiving your exam results by email? (you can check this on your MyProfile page).
    • Have you registered for a MySQA account?
    • Have you activated your MySQA account?

    I think some of the information about my qualifications on MySQA is wrong what should I do?

    Please check the following:

    • Sometimes an amendment is made to a result either by your school, college or centre or by SQA. MySQA will be updated before your amended certificate is posted to you.
    • Your school, college or centre may not send us your results as soon as you have completed a unit, NAB or course. They normally wait until they have got a lot of results to send us and do this at certain times of the year.
    • We will not change any results on MySQA until a successful appeal has been confirmed. For more information on appeals go to www.sqa.org.uk.


    If you still have concerns about your qualification information please contact your school, college or centre.

    I think some of the information about my qualifications on MySQA is wrong or missing

    Your school, college or centre may not send us an entry for a unit, NAB or course as soon as you have started it and may not send us the result as soon as you have completed it. They normally wait until they have got lots of information to send us and do this at certain times of the year. If you think information about your qualifications is wrong or missing please contact your school, college or centre.

    What are Core Skills?

    Core Skills are the abilities you need as active, enterprising and responsible members of society. The five Core Skills are:

    • Communication
    • Numeracy
    • Problem Solving
    • Information Technology
    • Working with Others

    What does 'Exam Only' mean?

    To achieve a National Course at Intermediate, Higher or Advanced Higher level you must achieve the examination at grade A, B, C or D and pass all the required units.

    'Exam Only' means that you have achieved the exam but either failed, not completed one or more of the required units or your school, college or learning centre may not have sent us a result for one or more of the required units.

    What is the SCQF?

    The SCQF is the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework. It is a way of comparing and understanding Scottish qualifications by giving them a level and credit value. For more information go to www.scqf.org.uk.

    What time will I receive my exam results by email?

    We will send you an email containing your exam results before 9am on 5 August 2014.

    Why is my record on MySQA different to that shown on my printed certificate

    Your MySQA record could include:

    • Any open entries
    • Results not yet due for certification
    • Any result which is a fail


    None of the above items will appear on your printed certificate.

    Will I still receive a paper certificate?

    Yes, if you are registered for MySQA you will still receive a paper certificate. Your certificate will be sent to the address we hold for you so make sure you go to your MyProfile page and check it's correct. If you see the wrong address, contact your school, college or centre and ask them to send us the correct address.

    Can I change my email address?

    We will send you an email containing your exam results before 9am on 5 August 2014.

    What will you email me about?

    It is essential that you provide us with an email address when you register for a MySQA account. We will email you about the following:

    • To confirm that you have completed the sign up process.
    • To send you lost/forgotten usernames and passwords.
    • If you are sitting National Qualifications we will email your results to you.
    • To notify you about important MySQA information, for example, to tell you when we will send your exam results.
    • From time to time we may contact you by email to get your views on the MySQA service.
    To tell you about promotions from approved partners.

    Can I change my mobile phone number?

    Yes. Go to your MyProfile page, click on the 'Edit' button in the 'Mobile number' section, enter your new mobile phone number and click on the 'Save' button.

    How do I sign up to receive my exam results by text message?

    There are two ways to sign up to receive your exam results by text message:

    • When you activate your MySQA account you will be given the option to sign up to receive your exam results by text message.
    • Login to your account, go to your MyProfile page, click on the 'Edit' button in the 'Mobile number' section, enter your mobile phone number, click on the box to say you want to receive your results by text message and click on 'Save'. You will be asked to enter your password before your changes will be saved.

    I haven't received a text message containing my exam results.

    Exam results are sent out by text message between 8am and 9am on Tuesday 6 August 2013.
    If you have not received your exam results by text message please check the following:

    • Have you sat exams at Standard Grade, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, Higher or Advanced Higher?
    • Have you given us the correct mobile phone number? (you can check this on your MyProfile page).
    • Have you signed up to receive your exam results by text message? (you can check this on your MyProfile page).
    • Have you registered for a MySQA account?
    • Have you activated your MySQA account?
    • If you are abroad, do you have enough credit on your mobile phone to be able to receive text messages?

    Is there a charge for signing up to the text messaging service?

    SQA does not charge you for signing up to the text messaging service, however, you may be subject to network supplier charges.

    Is there a deadline for signing up to receive my exam results by text?

    Yes. If you want us to send your exam results by text message you must sign up by 8 July 2014 at 5pm.

    You can subscribe to the text messaging service by signing up while you are activating your account or by going to your MyProfile page, clicking on the 'Edit profile' button and entering your mobile phone number. Then click on 'Save'.

    What if I decide I don't want to receive my exam results by text message?

    Go to your MyProfile page, click on the 'Edit' button in the 'Mobile number' section, delete your mobile phone number and click on the box to remove the tick to say that you want to receive your exam results by text message. Then click on the 'Save' button. You will be asked to enter your password before your changes will be saved.

    What is the text messaging service?

    If you are sitting exams at:

    • National 5
    • Intermediate 1
    • Intermediate 2
    • Higher
    • Advanced Higher
    • Or have completed all National 4 units that make up a National 4 course


    you can sign up to receive a text message containing you exam results first thing on results day.

    When will I get the text message containing my exam results?

    We will send a text message containing your exam results between 8am and 9am on Tuesday 5 August 2014.

    Can I change my username?

    No. Your username is a unique identifier in MySQA and it is not possible to change this.

    Can I close my account?

    Yes. If you want to close your account login to MySQA and go to the MyProfile page. Click on the 'Close account' button at the bottom of the page and confirm that you want to close the account. Closing your account means that you will no longer have access to your SQA record. We will send an email to the address we hold for you to confirm that your account has been closed.

    You can resubscribe to MySQA at any time by going to www.mysqa.org.uk and completing the sign up process.

    How do I change my password?

    Login to MySQA, go to your MyProfile page and click on the 'Change password' button. Then fill in your old password, give us your new password, confirm it and click on the 'Save' button to store your new password.

    I have lost/forgotten my password

    Click on the link below, fill in the details and we will send a system generated password to the email address we hold for you. When you login using the password we have sent you, you will be asked to change it to something you remember. Password request

    Click on the link below, fill in the details and we will send your username to the email address we hold for you. Username request

    I have lost/forgotten my username and password

    You have to request lost/forgotten usernames and passwords separately. Click on the link below to take you to the MySQA homepage, then click on the 'Forgotten your username?' link in the login box, fill in the details and we will send your username to the email address we hold for you. Then click on the 'Forgotten your password?' link in the login box, fill in the details and we will send a system generated password to the email address we hold for you.     I have not received my activation code letter

    If you have not received your activation code letter please check the following:

    • Have you completed the sign up process?
    • As part of the sign up process you were asked to confirm the first line of your address was this correct?


    If the answer to the above is yes please go to www.mysqa.org.uk and click on the 'Forgotten activation code?' link in the 'Activate account' section of the homepage. Fill in the details and we will send a new activation code letter to you by post to the address we hold for you.

    Is there a deadline for activating my account?

    Yes and no! If you want to receive your exam results by email and text on Tuesday 5 August 2014 you will have to activate your account by 16 July 2014 at 5pm. We have to temporarily close activation to allow us to prepare to send your exam results. Registration will open again on 8 August 2014 at 9am.

    My activation code won't work

    For security reasons activation codes expire after 30 days. If your activation code has expired go to www.mysqa.org.uk and click on the 'Forgotten activation code?' link in the 'Activate account' section. Once you have filled in the details we will send a new activation code to you by post to the address we hold for you.

    I'm not doing National Qualifications can I register for MySQA?

    Yes. It doesn't matter what type of SQA qualification you are doing, as long as you have got a nine digit Scottish Candidate Number (SCN) you can register for MySQA.

    MySQA is not just about getting your exam results it's your direct link with SQA and lets you view information on all your SQA qualifications and you can check that the personal details we hold for you are correct.

    Is MySQA available all year round?

    Yes, with the exception of the main diet results being processed between 16 July 2014 and 8 August 2014. MySQA is not just about receiving your exam results. You can see the qualifications you are currently doing, progress towards achieving your qualifications and everything you have been certificated for. You can also check that we hold the correct personal details for you.

    Is there a deadline for signing up for MySQA?

    Yes and no! If you want to receive your exam results by email and text on Tuesday 5 August 2014 you will have to sign up by 8 July 2014 at 5pm and activate your account by 16 July 2014 at 5pm. We have to temporarily close registration to allow us to prepare to send your exam results. Registration will open again on 8 August 2014 at 9am.
