    Can I view the qualifications I sat before 1995?

    No, MySQA only includes information from 1995 to the present day. If you completed qualifications prior to 1995, you can order a Replacement Certificate here. There is a fee for this service and certificates are normally sent within three weeks. Alternatively, you can request a copy of the information SQA holds about you by making a Subject Access Request.     I'm not doing National Qualifications - can I register for MySQA?

    Yes, as long as you've got a nine digit Scottish Candidate Number (SCN) you can register for MySQA. If you don't have your SCN, your centre will be able to provide you with this. MySQA is not just about getting your results; it's your direct link with SQA, and lets you view information on all of your SQA qualifications. You can also check the personal details we hold for you are correct.

    If I register for MySQA will I still receive a paper certificate on results day?

    Yes, if you're registered for MySQA we will still send a paper certificate to the address we hold for you on results day, so make sure you go to your MyProfile page and check your address is correct.

    If you see the wrong address, contact your school, college or centre and ask them to update your address details.

    Is there a deadline for signing up to MySQA before results day?

    Yes and no! If you want to receive your NQ results by email and text on Tuesday 6 August 2024, you'll have to sign up and activate your account by 5pm Wednesday 17 July 2024. We have to temporarily close registration to allow us to prepare to send your exam results. Registration will open again at 9am on Wednesday 7 August 2024.

    What information will I be able to see on MySQA?

    You can see the qualifications you are currently doing and everything you have been certificated for (from 1995 onwards). You can also see the personal details we hold for you and check they are correct.

    When can I register for MySQA?

    Registration is open now. To register you must have a Scottish Candidate Number (SCN) and a unique email address. To register go to www.mysqa.org.uk

    How secure is MySQA?

    At SQA we use established security standards to protect information from unauthorised access. There are some simple steps you can follow to keep your MySQA account secure:

    • A personal firewall and anti-virus software are essential tools to block unauthorised individuals and viruses from your computer when you're browsing.

    • Avoid the use of public computers (e.g. cyber cafes) to access your account

    • Keep your personal details secret. Never write down or reveal your username or password.

    • Be alert for scam emails. SQA will never ask you to provide your login details.

    • Always remember to select the 'logout' button and close the window when you've finished using your account.

    • Never leave your PC unattended while you're logged into the service.

    Can I cancel my account?

    Yes, login to your MySQA account and go to your MyProfile page. Click on the 'Cancel my Account' button.

    Cancelling your account means that you will no longer have direct access to the information SQA holds about you, and if you are awaiting NQ results you will no longer be able to receive your results by email and/or text message. We will send an email to the address we hold for you to confirm that your account has been closed.

    You can re-subscribe to MySQA at any time by going to www.mysqa.org.uk and completing the sign up process.

    Can I change my username?

    No, your username is a unique identifier in MySQA and it is not possible to change this.

    How do I change my password?

    Go to your MyProfile page and click on the 'Change password' button. Then fill in your old password, give us your new password, confirm it and click on the 'Save' button to store your new password.

    What if the wrong address is displayed in MySQA?

    This is the address your centre has sent us and it's where we will send your certificate. If the address you see displayed is wrong, please contact your school, college or centre and ask them to update your address details. If you're not currently studying, please complete a Candidate Enquiry form by clicking here.

    What if the wrong name is displayed in MySQA?

    This is the name your centre has sent us, and is what will appear on your certificate. If the name you see displayed is wrong, please contact your school, college or centre, and ask them to send us your correct name. If you're not currently studying, please complete a Candidate Change of Name Declaration by clicking here.

    I haven't received a text message containing my results.

    Results are sent out by text message from 8am on Tuesday 6 August 2024. If you have not received your exam results by text message please check the following:

    • Have you registered for a MySQA account?
    • Have you activated your MySQA account?
    • Are you expecting results for National 5, Higher or Advanced Higher?
    • Have you completed all National 4 Units that make up a National 4 Course?
    • Have you given us the correct mobile phone number? (you can check this on your MyProfile page).
    • Have you signed up to receive your results by text message? (you can check this on your MyProfile page).
    • If you are abroad, do you have enough credit on your mobile phone to be able to receive text messages?
    • SQA works with service providers to try and ensure texts are delivered as swiftly as possible

    What are Core Skills?

    Core Skills are five skills that are key to learning and working in today's world. The five Core Skills are:

    • Communication
    • Numeracy
    • Problem Solving

    What is the SCQF?

    The SCQF is the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework. It is a way of comparing and understanding Scottish qualifications by giving them a level and credit value. For more information go to www.scqf.org.uk.

    What time will I receive my results by email?

    We will send you an email containing your results from 8am on Tuesday 6 August 2024. Please check both your inbox and junk folder for this email.

    When can I expect to receive my revised certificate following an appeal?

    Any revised certificates will be posted to candidates at the end of November 2024. Revised results will also be updated on MySQA at the end of November 2024.

    Why is the information on MySQA different to that shown on my printed certificate?

    MySQA includes information which will not appear on your certificate, such as::

    • Any qualifications you are currently working towards
    • Results not yet due for certification
    • Any result which is a fail


    Will I still receive a paper certificate on results day?

    Yes, you will still receive a paper certificate on results day showing your NQ results. Your certificate will be sent to the address we hold for you; you can check this on your MyProfile page. If the address we hold for you is incorrect, contact your school, college or centre and ask them to update your address details.

    Can I change my email address?

    Go to your MyProfile page, click on the 'Edit' button in the 'Email' section, enter and confirm your new email address and click on the 'Save' button. You will be asked to enter your password before any changes will be saved.

    I haven't received an email containing my results

    What time will I receive my results by email?

    We will send you an email containing your results from 8am on Tuesday 6 August 2024.

    What will you email me about?

    It is essential that you provide us with an email address when you register for a MySQA account. We will email you about the following:

    • To send your activation code
    • To confirm that you have completed the sign up process.
    • To help you recover a lost/forgotten username or password.
    • If you are studying for National Qualifications we will email your results to you, if requested.
    • To notify you about important MySQA information, for example, to tell you when we will send your results.

    Can I change my mobile phone number?

    Yes. Go to your MyProfile page, click on the 'Edit' button in the 'Mobile number' section, enter your new mobile phone number and click on the 'Save' button.

    How do I sign up to receive my results by text message on results day?

    There are two ways to sign up to receive your results by text message:

    • When you activate your MySQA account you will be given the option to sign up to receive your results by text message.
    • Login to your account, go to your MyProfile page, click on the 'Edit' button in the 'Mobile number' section, enter your mobile phone number, click on the box to say you want to receive your results by text message and click on 'Save'. You will be asked to enter your password before your changes will be saved.

    I haven't received a text message containing my results.

    Is there a charge for signing up to the text messaging service?

    SQA does not charge you for signing up to the text messaging service, however, you may be subject to network supplier charges.

    Is there a deadline for signing up to receive my results by text?

    Yes. If you want us to send your results by text message you must sign up and activate your account by 5pm on Wednesday 17 July 2024.

    You can subscribe to the text messaging service by signing up while you are activating your account or by going to your MyProfile page, clicking on the 'Edit profile' button and entering your mobile phone number. Then click on 'Save'.

    What if I decide I don't want to receive my results by text message?

    Go to your MyProfile page, click on the 'Edit' button in the 'Mobile number' section, delete your mobile phone number and click on the box to remove the tick to say that you want to receive your results by text message. Then click on the 'Save' button. You will be asked to enter your password before your changes will be saved.

    What is the text messaging service?

    Results are sent by personalised text message to registered candidates from 8am on results day. This service is available to candidates expecting results for National 5, Higher, Advanced Higher or who have completed all National 4 Units that make up a National 4 Course

    When will I get the text message containing my results?

    We will send a text message containing your results from 8am on Tuesday 6 August 2024.

    Can I change my username?

    Yes, login to your MySQA account and go to your MyProfile page. Click on the 'Cancel my Account' button.

    I have lost/forgotten my password

    Click here, fill in the details and we will send a system generated password to the email address we hold for you. When you login using the password we have sent you, you will be asked to change it to something you remember.

    I have lost/forgotten my username

    Click here, fill in the details and we will send your username to the email address we hold for you.

    I have lost/forgotten my username and password

    You have to request lost/forgotten usernames and passwords separately. Click on the link below to take you to the MySQA homepage, then click on the 'Forgotten your username?' link in the login box, fill in the details and we will send your username to the email address we hold for you. Then click on the 'Forgotten your password?' link in the login box, fill in the details and we will send a system generated password to the email address we hold for you. When you login using the password we have sent you, you will be asked to change it to something you remember. www.mysqa.org.uk

    I have not received my activation code

    If you have not received your activation email please check the following:

    • Have you completed the sign up process?
    • Have you checked your junk folder?
    • Have you provided the correct email address?


    If your answer to all of the above is yes, please go to www.mysqa.org.uk and click on the 'Forgotten activation code?' link in the 'Activate account' section of the homepage. Fill in the details and we will send a new activation code to the email address we hold for you.

    Is there a deadline for activating my account before results day?

    Yes and no! If you want to receive your NQ results by email and text on Tuesday 6 August 2024, you'll have to sign up, register your account by 5pm and activate immediately as we temporarily close registration at 6pm on Wednesday 17th July 2024 to prepare to send your results. Registration will open again at 9am on Wednesday 7 August 2024.

    My activation code won't work

    For security reasons activation codes expire after 1 hour. If your activation code has expired go to www.mysqa.org.uk and click on the 'Forgotten activation code?' link in the 'Activate account' section. Once you have filled in the details we will send a new activation code to the email address we hold for you.
